When is a list not a list? When it’s a book!
We love lists, don’t you? We think they may catch on. We especially love lists from people who know what they’re talking about, and even more when what they’re talking about are lovely places around the world – all around the world, if you fancy an ear worm to start your day off with a Lisa Stansfield bang.
The know-it-alls of our story are Lonely Planet – they’re a global travel authority and everything – and the book is called Ultimate Travel List. What they’ve done with all that global travel clout is rank the top 500 unmissable travel experiences across the globe, to tickle that wanderlust of yours. Call it a recherché carrot on a jaunty string, perhaps one you can turn into a friendship bracelet after that jolly in Mykonos.
And here are some stats to whet your appetite. The UK got 34 of those 500 spots, more than any other country. We’re good, right? Petra in Jordan – you know, off-of Raiders of the Lost Ark, though other movies are available – claimed the top spot, with The Galápagos Islands and Australia’s Uluru (formally know as Ayers Rock) coming in at Nos. 2 and 3 respectively.
And if that isn’t enough, these are the top ten of Lonely Planet’s travel pops. For the rest – and actual words and pictures to go with them – you’ll have to buy the book. We hear Christmas is round the corner.
