As one Curtain closes, the Mondrian Shoreditch opens!
We liked The Curtain, we just didn’t love it. We certainly didn’t love-love it. It just lacked a certain je ne sais what, if you know what we’re saying. We’d be in there going, ‘Yeah, it’s nice, but it’s not rocking our world.’ And we like our worlds rocked, if you know what we’re saying.
Enter Mondrian, almost like they were listening or something. While the world was finding uses for black bananas, re-discovering skipping or buying up kittens, the super-swish hotel group wheeled and dealed with the Reuben Brothers – owners of the industro-hot block in Shoreditch – worked some hospitality magic and, before you can say ‘rooftop pool party!’, will open Europe’s flagship Mondrian in July.
The whole place has had a proper good zhuzh, thanks to interior design studio Goddard Littlefair, Dani García – off-of three Michelin stars – will open his first UK restaurant, BiBo, on the lower ground floor, Christina’s will be your all-day café and cocktail bar and will only source products from local independent suppliers and brands with social impact, and that amazing roof top space with the pool is becoming Altitude and will be open for guests for breakfast. The rest of the time it’s roped off for The Curtain Members’ Club, which is coming back, back, back.
Mondrian Shoreditch? We love-love.
