Grace Jones as you’ve always seen her before

Grace Jones making an exhibition of herself? Well, it wouldn’t be the first time only for once it’s someone else making an exhibition of Grace Jones. You know, just for a change. The exhibition in question is Grace Before Jones: Camera, Studio, Disco (someone really does need to do a course on coming up with better titles for exhibitions), a look at Ms. Jones’ brilliant career from model through singer to actress and cultural icon.

And we don’t bandy the old ‘cultural icon’ moniker around too damn much, believe you us. They’re saying it’s a cross between fan fiction, study and biography and examines how Grace ‘exemplifies and complicates theories of gender, sexuality, performance, race and cybernetics’, which just goes to show how academics can make even the most fun of subjects sound boring. But we think the images will be great, just don’t read the blurbs.
