Nice Helmut!

He’s the photographer who put the sex back into… well, everything really. Helmut Newton, who would have been 100 years old this Saturday, is being celebrated in a new exhibition of some of his finest work up in Hampstead from… this Saturday. And if that isn’t a coincidence, it’s a clever bit of timing.

See the famous shots of 80s models in 80s power dresses and then, right next to them, those same models naked. See Jerry Hall spitting water at another model: very unbecoming in the wife of a media mogul. See David Bowie looking as sexy and glamorous as he ever did in some shots done for Vogue. See supermodels lounging around in nothing but bra and panties.

And if you like what you see, treat yourself to the newly published Taschen book SUMO, which, even though it’s only half the size of the original, is still big enough to need its own specially designed (by Philippe Starck!) stand.
