The Crown is back. And this time it’s a bitch-fest!
It might be the hardest bitch-face we’ve seen on our televisions since Alexis Colby Carrington had to take off an outsize 80s earring to make a call to Dominique Deveraux. It is Gillian Anderson – who we thought we couldn’t physically love any harder after The Fall and Sex Education – as Margaret Thatcher facing down HMTQ in the new series of The Crown. Chilling and bang on the money, the face is so hard you could bang in nails with it.
‘It could be said that they are two very similar women,’ said writer Peter Morgan of the Thatcher/Betty chemistry. ‘They are very much defined by the Second Word War, by a sense of frugality, hard work, commitment, Christianity and so much more. It was a commonly held piece of wisdom that the Queen and Thatcher didn’t get on. I think there was probably a bit of respect.’
Also coming up in the fourth series of what is perhaps Netflix’s finest ever show is the grooming of Princess Diana (we like her doing Roller Girl round Buckingham Palace), the degeneration of Princess Margaret (fairly degenerate to begin with) and the general romping of the family so posh they make the Kardashians look like street prostitutes. Mind you…
The fourth series begins on 15th November
